I love this town!

Welcome to San Tan Valley, Arizona! Home of the Hagensen's and lots of animals. Today I took a few pics of some of our neighbors, they rarely complain about our barking dogs:)
I loved the horses in these images. They were super friendly & loved getting their pictures taken! When I was shooting I realized one was missing any eye. I know I couldn't pull off the "one eye" look like this beauty could:) Gorgeous creatures! How bout those baby calfs! Mama wasn't happy with me for getting so close, she made it difficult for me to get a shot!

Little girls!

All it takes is a stubbed toe for me to resort back to being 6...I wish I was kidding! While editing the Komer girl's pictures I was reminiscing about the days when I would do anything for pop rocks & barbie dolls. I remember chasing & I mean this was full on sprint to catch up with the ice cream truck as it drove down our neighborhood , that was if I talked my mom into giving me a few quarters or I got lucky & found some in between the seat cushions. What simple pleasures I relished in! Oh to be a kid again...

Presidents & Pavers

Yesterday morning John and I were drinking our coffee outside when I came up with a brilliant idea (at least I thought so), creating a patio in the middle of our yard for a space to relax & get some vitamin D (that's my justification for laying out but as you can see in the pic of me I am in need of MAJOR vitamin D)! John wasn't sure about this idea at first, especially since it involved hours of digging, a little cash, and a more stressful day off work but being the amazing husband he is he put down his mug & said "let's do this":)

So a trip to Home Depot later we got started. Here are some images of the progress & finished product. When all was said & done we were happy we did it & look forward to many hours of relaxing in our new oasis!

For home project ideas & instructions visit Home Depot's website.

PS. The extremely good looking man in that pictures is taken, sorry ladies;)

Mom + Dad = Kiddos!

What a blessing a child is. I mean nothing truly measures up to the beauty & purity a child holds. With a hand-full of my friends having children I am experiencing first hand the joy & love a child brings into the lives of their parents. What a magical relationship, one John & I look forward to experiencing in the future! For now, I will just take pictures of other's little angels:)

Here is another image from the Fraley shoot:)

Our newest four legged daughter, Jade.

We met Jade when we were at the local pound last weekend getting images for my post on breeding vs. adopting. John spotted her & after taking her on a little walk we knew she had to come home with us! She is an Italian greyhound mix (to be honest I thought she was a large Chihuahua when I first saw her) & super loving. She is getting along great with her siblings too. We are treating her for some minor health issues but confident she will be 100% soon. My entire family thinks I'm on a mission to adopt every dog but to be honest I think they pick me:) Sometimes these creatures don't come at the most convenient times but I guess that's how life goes!

Welcome to the pack Jade!

Our cat, Java, is very curious & loves staring out windows...while I was busy editing today she was getting a glimpse at the birds in front of our home. Little things like this keep my day interesting believe it or not!

One more little guy who needs a home...

Adoption vs. Breeder

The topic of this post is very important to me and dear to my heart. Being a "doggy mama" to two adopted dogs I know all about the joy and frustration these furry creatures bring into our lives.

Today I took a trip to our local animal control facility and as always left feeling broken hearted for these beautiful dogs in need of a good home. On average a dog will stay at the pound for 5 days, if they are not adopted they are euthanized. Most of the dogs have potential to be great family dogs but are not given a chance due to their size, smell, breed, or age. Many people don't realize how serious of an issue this is and how many animal's lives are cut short due to lack of knowledge and interest.

Why do I blame the breeders? Breeding dogs is a business. Therefore they are out to make a profit like any other business. If breeding was monitored more families would go to their local dog shelters & pounds to find their new addition NOT a breeder. I don't mean to make breeder's sounds like the villain in this post but I do believe their ethics come into question. Why purposely bring more dogs into this world when their are SO many out on the streets, in the pounds, and put to death every single day!?

I could go on & on but I will spare you...these pictures tell a lot more than I can write in this post. Next time you think you want to add an animal to your family, please consider adoption. I know it's one of the best decision's we've ever made!
